Ballatar, Man that's Where It's At.

Scott & Jacqueline are probably the best
tour guides a Midwest girl visiting Scotland could ask for.
They took the mister and I on a jaunt
 through the Ballatar countryside.

And let me tell you, it was definitely a walk
I'll remember for always.

For one, we met the most
perfect little black cat who was mesmerized by Jacqueline.
I mean look at them, they're kindred souls.

...and for another,
these two brothers.
You know you're in for an adventure
with these guys.

We wandered past these horses
at the beginning of
our walk and I could just imagine
Grandpa Johnson saying,
"Golly, they're pretty."
and he'd be right.

We walked and we walked.

We managed to get distracted
along the way by
brave Scott marching up a very long
gravel driveway and knocking on the door
of a very closed art gallery.
It kind of felt like when you're a little kid
and you knock on the neighbor's door and run
off and hide really quick.

We got back on track by walking
safely across this rickety bridge.

Upon crossing, we entered this foggy forest...

...and got to to admire some very Scottish animals.

Near the end of our walk, we noticed
this bouquet of flowers that had been tossed -
and wondered what sad story
brought them there.

After all the walking, we enjoyed some tea and goodies
in the cutest little shop.  Then, we went
to an even cuter bookshop, where I found - are you ready for this?
a book entitled Scottish Love Poems. Oh, heck yes.

Ballatar, man- that's where it's at.
I'm putting this place on my "Do this Again" List.

Uncle Scott & Aunt Jacqueline's Visit

Summer sure has flown by.
I just can't believe quite believe it.
Uncle Scott and Aunt Jacqueline were
Piper's first overseas visitors.

We did lots of things together like
shopping, restaurant sitting, & Lake Geneva
visiting.  For some reason, I thought... gee
once we have a baby we won't hardly ever get
to go out and do things anything more.  Thank
goodness I was wrong about that!

It turns out Piper's a very easy going little girl :0)

Z Gallerie

I've been obsessed with this moose
for years now.  (Also, I've been infatuated
with the color yellow lately too.)
I visit him every once
and awhile at Z Gallerie.

One day, I'll just have to break
down and purchase this lovely guy.

I'm fairly certain that he'd love living
with our little family and would
look over us with pride.

And there's other reasons I visit Z Gallerie as well...
like to pretend I'm hosting a fabulous dinner party with
attendees like Jacqueline that include the most eccentric
conversations both before and after the main course.

Thank You Scott & Jacqueline!

You were right Jacqueline -
the pre-Christmas gift made us laugh.
The look on the mister's face was priceless.
You and Scott are the coolest!
I mean, this ornament is quite spectacular.
There will be quite a few envious folks when
they come over and see our presidential tree.

you're willing to keep walking,
eventually you'll make progress. "

Season's Greetings

Nothing brings families and food together better
than Thanksgiving.  I'm thankful to have the coolest
in-laws on the planet.  Scott & Jacqueline's visit was
a highlight for everyone I think.
We miss you two already.

I even got to see the tail end of the parade
before my shift at the theater.
Just in time for the Grinch & Santa on his sleigh.
I couldn't believe how many folks came out to see
this parade.  I'd thought I'd never find a parking spot :0)
...but, I did.
